Pretilachlor
The active ingredient pretilachlor was especially developed for use as an effective herbicide with broad spectrum of activity against major lowland
weeds in transplanted lowland rice.
It is applied as a foliar spray and it inhibits photosynthesis.
Field trials in the Philippines conducted during the 1984-85 rice cropping seasons have shown that granular or liquid formulations of pretilachlor
applied 1 or 4 days after transplanting at 0.3 to 0.45 kg ai/ha in flooded or saturated transplanted rice effectively controlled Echinochloa spp.,
Monochoria vaginalis (Burm.f.) Kunth, and Sphenoclea zeylanica Gaertn. Pretilachlor at recommended rates and times of application was safe to
transplanted lowland rice seedlings.
