Aluminium Phosphide Agricultural s 56%-57% TB désinsectisation Fumitoxin, Phostoxin
Aluminum phosphide is a dark gray or dry, yellow, crystalline solid. It reacts with moisture to give phosphine, a flammable and poisonous gas. Normally, phosphine will spontaneously ignite upon contact with air. If there is an excess of water, the phosphine fire will not normally ignite any surrounding combustible material.
All aluminum phosphide products (e.g., Fumitoxin, Phostoxin, etc) are federal restricted-use pesticides due to the high acute inhalation toxicity of phosphine gas. Aluminum phosphide tablets and pellets react with moisture to release phosphine gas. Misuse of aluminum phosphide products has killed people.
Aluminum phosphide is a fumigant used to control various burrowing rodents and moles. Formulations for burrow treatments are in 3-g tablets or 600-mg pellets containing about 56% active ingredient. Aluminum phosphide reacts with moisture in burrows to release phosphine gas, which is the toxin in the fumigant.
